Buying a laptop in Casablanca: 5 shops compared

iris.ma is a Moroccan computer retailer created by SGM2I, a company founded in 2007, which has been selling online since 2011 and opened a 163 m² showroom in Casablanca in 2026. Its catalogue includes several hundred new laptops (HP, Lenovo, Dell, Asus, Acer, Apple, MSI, Gigabyte), from student models to MacBooks, by way of gaming PCs and workstations.

• Genuine, no grey imports: iris.ma only sells new products from the brands' official channels, “neither refurbished nor grey imports”, with an AZERTY keyboard even when the manufacturer's photo shows a QWERTY one. The retailer describes itself as an HP partner since 2010 and an official Apple reseller in Morocco.

Which specs for which use?

For a student, 16 GB of memory and a 512 GB SSD are the sensible minimum: that is what keeps a machine running smoothly for four or five years. Be wary of machines supplied with FreeDOS, in other words without Windows: the price shown is lower, but you will have to add a licence.

Warranty, parallel imports, keyboard: the pitfalls to avoid

In Casablanca, as elsewhere in Morocco, you will find laptops for sale online, particularly on social media and from sellers without a store, that have been imported outside the brands' official channels. They are sometimes cheaper, but the warranty is then covered neither by the manufacturer in Morocco nor by the seller, and the keyboard is often QWERTY. Before you pay, check five things:

• The invoice: in your name (or your company's, with its ICE number), showing the exact model, the date and the serial number. No invoice, no warranty.
• The serial number: enter it on the manufacturer's website (HP, Lenovo, Asus, Apple) to check the warranty start date and region.
• The keyboard: look for the word “AZERTY” in the written specifications, not in the photo.
• The condition: “new” does not mean “refurbished”, “unboxed” or “open box”. A reputable seller says so clearly.
• The seller's identity: a store, an address, and a published trade register number and ICE number.

Your rights when you buy online

Moroccan Law No. 31-08 on consumer protection gives you 7 days after receiving a product bought at a distance to withdraw from the purchase, without having to give a reason, with return costs borne by the buyer (Article 36). The seller must refund you within 15 days at the latest (Article 37). In practice, all the shops compared require the product to be unopened or unused: if you are hesitating between two models, see them in store before ordering. In the event of a defect, the manufacturer's warranty comes on top of the legal warranty against hidden defects.

For a business or public body

To equip a team, choose a supplier able to provide a quote, a pro forma invoice, an invoice showing the ICE number and a tax compliance certificate. iris.ma and LinkSolutions respond to quote requests within 24 working hours; iris.ma also responds to public tenders and invoices without VAT on presentation of the relevant certificate.
