Club bowling in Morocco: associations, leagues and tournaments

What is a bowling league?

A league is a competition played in the evening, every week in the same time slot, over several weeks. Each bowler usually plays three games per evening; their scores feed into an average, which is used to draw up the rankings and, often, a handicap that lets beginners compete with experienced bowlers. The league ends with a final, and then a new league begins.

It is the best way to improve: you bowl often, on the same lanes, alongside experienced bowlers who give advice, and you can track your progress from one week to the next. Where to bowl in a league, city by city

In Rabat, the ASBM has bowled at the Megamall since it was founded in 2007: it is the oldest league in the country, with more than 35 quarterly leagues held. In Tangier, the ASBM section launched its league in 2025 and organises the Tangier International Open. For a trial evening in either city, contact the ASBM on +212 781 492 440 (phone or WhatsApp).

In Casablanca, the Bowling Club Casablanca brings together the bowlers of Tamaris Bowling, whose machine-oiled lanes and pro shop are a real asset for improving; the club can be contacted through its social media. The city has a long tradition of competition: as early as 2012, the Team Tamaris Bowling club was holding monthly inter-club tournaments there with the ASBM and the Dauphins de Rabat.

In Marrakech, the Marrakech Bowling Association (MBA) runs a weekly competition, publishes its rankings online and saw one of its bowlers roll a perfect 300 game on 7 January 2026. A second club, the Club Marrakchi de Bowling Al Manara, was founded in November 2025. The Grand Plaza bowling centre also holds tournaments several evenings a week.

How much does club membership cost?

At the ASBM, membership costs 750 MAD a year for an adult and 400 MAD for a child aged 8 and over, for a season running from September to June. It gives access to the association's leagues and tournaments, reduced rates on games at the Megamall in Rabat and Socco Alto in Tangier, and the club shirt. For a bowler who comes every week, the discount on games pays back a good part of the fee. You can join online.

How do you get started in a club?

1. Come to a trial evening: the ASBM welcomes beginners with no commitment. You just need to know how to play a game; the league rules will be explained to you on the spot.
2. Build your average: after a few weeks, your average determines your handicap and your place in the rankings.
3. Build up your kit gradually: shoes first, then a ball drilled to fit your hand, for example at the Tamaris Bowling pro shop.
4. Try your first tournament: handicap formats let bowlers of every level aim for the podium.
